In the 19th century, whiskey distillers led the way in guaranteeing the quality of what Americans ate and drank. George Garvin Brown, founder of Brown-Forman, was the first to sell his whiskey exclusively in glass bottles when he released Old Forester in 1870. Col. E.H. Taylor, Jr., who at one time owned what is today Buffalo Trace and built what is now Castle & Key Distillery, was among the distillers who campaigned for the Bottled-in-Bond Act of 1897. Tastings of Old Forester and Col. E.H. Taylor Bottled-in-Bond will accompany the history.
